Atmore fire officials have ruled a structure fire that yielded minimal damage on Sunday as suspicious.

Atmore Fire Chief Ronald Peebles said the structure fire occurred at the Old Flamingo building on Martin Luther King Dr., near Atmore.

“Our guys put a good stop on it,” Peebles said about the containment. “The damage was held to a minimum.”

Peebles said the AFD received the call at 6:51 a.m. and cleared the scene less than an hour later.

“The fire’s under investigation, and I’ve called the fire marshal to come down and look at it,” he said.
