The primary election is less than a week away, and there are two local races that will be on the primary ballot.

In the District 4 Escambia County Commission race, Incumbent Brandon Smith will face off against James Hilton “Junior” Hall in the GOP primary.

Additionally, the Escambia County school board will see two district seats up for election.

In the Escambia County school board election, Incumbent Sherry Digmon is facing off against David Nolin in District 6.

All are Republicans.

Other than the local races, Alabama Republican and Democratic voters will be casting their choice for who they would like to be the president of the United States, along with their delegates for the parties’ national convention.

Additionally, Republican voters will be voting for their choice of United States Senator, for the Congressional Representative from the first district, for associate justice of the Supreme Court, Place No. 3, for president of the Public Service Commission and for member of the State Board of Education, district 1.

A statewide amendment is also on the ballot. The amendment authorizes the legislature to provide a retirement program for district attorneys and circuit clerks of the state who are first elected or appointed on or after Nov. 8, 2016.
