Arnold H. Mack

Arnold H. Mack, 72, a resident of Lake Wales, Fla., and native of McCullough, passed away on Wed., April 20, 2016.

He was a 1961 graduate of Escambia County High School in Atmore and a 1963 graduate of Gupton Jones College of Mortuary Science in Dallas, Texas. He also attended the University of Alabama. After college, he moved to Robertsdale to help open Mack Funeral Home. During this time, he also served in the United States Air Force Reserve for six years. In 1967, he partnered with a close friend in a watermelon growing venture in South Alabama; thus starting a lifelong career in the produce industry. He has served as past president and board member of the Alabama Watermelon Association, Florida Watermelon Association and National Watermelon Association. Arnold was instrumental in the creation of the National Watermelon Promotion Board and served on the United States Potato Board.

In 1972, Arnold began brokering watermelons and vegetables out of South Florida. In 1980, he established a farming operation growing watermelons and vegetables East of Lake Wales. This farm operation has grown to become one of the largest in Florida. Mack Farms, Inc. has become synonymous with brands such as McMelon watermelons, River Gold potatoes and vegetables, which are marketed nationwide in the U.S. and Canada.

While Arnold enjoyed building his company to an industry leader, he has most enjoyed making friends and promoting the produce industry. His hobbies included watching Alabama football and playing golf. Recently, the National Watermelon Association named its annual golf tournament the Arnold Mack Watermelon Invitational.

He is survived by his wife, Brenda; three sons, Chandler (Iassena) of Vero Beach, Fla., Jon David of Lake Wales and Jay-Allen of Lake Wales; two grandchildren, Colin and Georgina of Vero Beach; sister, Judieth Linam (Jerry) of Sevierville, Tenn.; as well as several nieces and nephews; and his two loving Yorkies, Tate and Mel.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Hubert and Jewel Mack of McCullough; and a brother, Huey A. Mack (Jean) of Robertsdale.

Funeral arrangements were by Marion Nelson Funeral Home, 454 S. Buck Moore Rd, Lake Wales, FL. Funeral services were held on April 23, 2016, at the First Presbyterian Church, 16N 3rd St., Lake Wales, with the Rev. Chad Reynolds serving as officiate and internment was held at the Lake Wales Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his honor to the First Presbyterian Church of Lake Wales or the Good Shepherd Hospice in Sebring, Fla.

Bobbie Jean Coker Stallworth

Bobbie Jean Coker Stallworth, 85, of Atmore, passed away on Fri., April 22, 2016, in Atmore. She was a homemaker, born in Escambia County (Ala.) on Feb. 13, 1931, to the late William Edgar and Jesse Maude Keller Coker. She enjoyed tending to her flowers, making flower arrangements and decorating.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Burton Stallworth; and one brother, Elbert Coker.

Survivors are one son, Jackson B. Stallworth II; two daughters, Rachel (Joe) Brown and Marsha (James) Bell, both of Atmore; three brothers, George Coker of Dothan, Jimmy Coker and Billy Coker, both of Atmore; four sisters, Evelyn Thurman of Texas, Millie Purvis and Peggy Moye, both of Atmore and Faye Morris of Molino, Fla.; grandchildren, Brian Bell, Matthew Bell, Leslie Odom and Jacob Stallworth; and great-grandchildren.

Per her request, a private family graveside service was held.

Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Inc. was in charge of all arrangements.

Sylvia Chrystene Cox Watford

Sylvia Chrystene Cox Watford, 81, born in Bratt, Fla., and a resident of the Crossroads Community of Bay Minette, died Thurs., April 21, 2016, at her residence.

She was a beautician and owner at The Magic Mirror in Pensacola, Fla.

She is survived by her husband of 61 years, James S. Watford of Crossroads; one daughter, Rhonda Watford (John) Little of Crossroads; one sister, Jo Ann Nall of DeFuniak Springs, Fla.; five grandchildren, Jamie Bazzell, Jonathan Little, Cassandra Malden, Cole Malden and Steven Malden; and seven great-grandchildren, Peyton Little, Parker Bazzel, Paxtan Bazzel, Zoey Little, Logan Malden, Aaron Eddington and Jorja Kitchens.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Allie Rigby; her father, James W. Cox; a daughter, Ramona Watford; a son, James Malden Jr.; and a granddaughter, Christy Malden Tate.

Funeral services were held on April 24, 2016, at the chapel of Norris Funeral Home with Dr. Henry Cox serving as officiate. Burial followed at Godwin Cemetery in Bratt.

The family received friends April 24, 2016, at Norris Funeral Home.

Pallbearers were Jonathan Little, Jerry Bazzel, Peyton Little, Cole Malden, Sammy Day and Scott Nall.

Terry Lee Davis

Mr. Terry Lee Davis, 63, passed away on Thurs., April 21, 2016, in Bratt, Fla.

Davis was a native and lifelong resident of Bratt.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Debra Davis; parents, Robert Lee and Christine Davis; brother, Johnny Davis; sister, Liz Johnson; and grandson, Chance Mosley.

He is survived by his two daughters, Teresa Davis of Century, Fla. and Terri Leanne Stabler of Atmore; one sister, Sandra (Van) Johnson of Nokomis, Fla.; and 10 grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Fri., April 22, 2016, at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Clarence Rolin serving as officiate.

Burial was held at the Godwin Cemetery.

Visitation was held April 22 until service time at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.

Pallbearers were Terri Leanne Stabler, Lance Bethea, James Johnson, Van Johnson, Austin Mosley and Johnny Hadley.

Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Homes, LLC of Atmore was in charge of all arrangements.
