Lady Rams to play in regional today

Atmore Christian School split in Panhandle Christian Conference action last week to earn a berth in this weekend’s regional tournament in Loxley.
The Lady Rams beat Bayshore 14-1, and lost to Central 13-3.
ACS will play Emmanuel this afternoon at 4:30 to start the double elimination tournament.
ACS 14, Bayshore 1
Kaylynn Swartzendruber went 3-for-5 with two runs and eight RBIs to lead the Lady Rams. Courtney Hursh went 2-for-5 with four runs and one RBI. Valen Shelly went 1-for-3 with two runs and an RBI. Kelsey Baker and Chaselyn Phillips had an RBI each for ACS.
Swartzendruber struck out three and allowed one hit in three innings. Lauren Metzler struck out six and allowed one run on no hits in three innings.
“We played a pretty clean game defensively,” ACS coach Anthony Swartzendruber said. “Offensively, we had big hits at key times.”
Swartzendruber’s daughter, Kaylynn, hit an inside the park grand slam to end the game.
“This was a big win to put us in the west regional championship game,” the coach said.

Swartzendruber and Baker hit an RBI each to lead the Lady Rams.
Four ACS players made the Panhandle Christian Conference all conference team. The players include: Swartzendruber, Metzler, Shelly and Gracie Coon.
