GROVE HILL — Escambia Academy beat South Choctaw 54-46 in a third-place game at the AISA Class 2A Region 2 tournament on Jan. 28.

The Cougars finished the tournament as the No. 3 seed going into today’s Elite 8 Tournament in the Multiplex at the Cramton Bowl in Montgomery.

EA (18-2) tips off against Autauga Academy (20-4) tonight at 7:30.

“We haven’t played them this year,” EA coach Hugh Fountain said. “Of course, we probably are mirror images of one another. We both kind of are pretty athletic teams.”

In girls action, the Lady Cougars (13-9) fell 39-34 to SCA, and are the No. 4 seed entering today’s state tournament. The girls face Macon East (14-11) today at 9 a.m.
