Rico Jackson is the new head football coach and athletic director at Escambia County High School.
The Escambia County School Board of Education approved Jackson’s hire at Thursday’s monthly meeting at W.S. Neal Elementary School.
After meeting for some 20 minutes to discuss the new hire at ECHS, Superintendent John Knott confirmed what many were waiting to hear.
“He’s one who has some very impressive credentials and a proven record,” Knott said. “We’re excited to have him, and are looking forward to the things he’ll bring to the school.”
Jackson comes to ECHS after coaching two seasons at Aliceville, a Class 2A school. He finished 13-2 during the 2016 season, falling to Fyffe in the state championship game.
Prior to his stint at AHS, Jackson coached at Fairfield, where he finished 16-14 over three seasons.
His overall record is 35-21.
In other county coaching news, W.S. Neal High School is still looking for its next head football coach.
