The Poarch Creek Swim Team earned high point awards in the girls 8 and under finishing top three overall, as well as swimmers who medaled in many other events.

Kylee Langham, daughter of Gia and Cade Langham, was awarded high point runner up in the girls’ 8U age group and medaled in all eight individual events that she swam in.

“Kylee, who has been swimming since she was 5 years old has achieved so much in this last year, and she will be focusing on making national cuts in the 100 yard, 200 yard and 500 yard freestyle events next year,” Coach Sarah Allen said. “She has the drive of a champion and I am very excited to see what she will do with her talent.”

Kamryn Langham, daughter of Cade and Gia Langham, finished top eight overall in the 9-to-10-year-old girls age group and finished in the top 10 in five individual events that she swam in.

“She continues to drop time in her events and working towards Southeastern cuts,” Allen said.

Mary-Ashlynn Williams, daughter of Kenny and Ashley Williams, finished fifth overall in the 8U age group in addition to medaling in six individual events.

“Mary-Ashlynn is a determined swimmer and when it comes to the breaststroke, she knows she will do whatever it takes to win that event,” Allen said. “That is by far her favorite stroke and if she could she would only do breaststroke events. She loves breaststroke and will continue to work extra hard and improve on all of her strokes.”

Allen said the swimmers are improving.

“Each swimmer has improved tremendously in a very short period. They have excelled in each event and overcome ever obstacle that they have been up against,” Allen said. “I am very proud to be their coach and cannot think of anything better I would rather be doing than coaching. It gives me a sense of joy to see swimmers who I have coached since they were five years old shake hands with the swimmers in the other lanes even if they have lost or won. To know that they will always show good sportsmanship is an accomplishment for me as a coach and for themselves.”
