Herrington gets shutout; EA girls rout JA

Northview’s Tori Herrington threw a shutout to help lead the Lady Chiefs to a 10-0 victory over Escambia Academy on March 10 in Bratt, Fla.
Herrington also struck out 10 batters, allowed three hits and one walk in the win.
NHS strutted out to a 4-0 lead after Aubree Love hit an RBI double in the first, and a two-run double in the second. Herrington added an RBI on a sac fly in the fourth for a 5-0 lead.
Terianna Redmond hit an RBI double in the fifth, and the Lady Chiefs run-ruled the Lady Cougars in the sixth on RBIs from three different NHS girls.
Carson Barnett went 2-for-3, and Ashlyn Glick went 1-for-2 to lead EA.
Jamia Newton, Kendall Enfinger and Love had two hits each to lead NHS.
EA 13, Jackson Academy 3
Escambia Academy’s Victoria Sawyer went 3-for-3 and hit a homerun to help lead the Lady Cougars to a 13-3 victory over Jackson Academy Thursday night at home.Sawyer also had a double and hit in three runners in the win.
The Lady Cougars got off to a good start, scoring nine runs in the first inning.
“Our defense did a great job of keeping it out of reach the rest of the game,” EA softball coach Cale Thompson said.
In addition to Sawyer, Thompson said four-to-five girls are hitting the ball well right now.
Raven Ramer went 2-for-3 with a triple amd two runs; Carson Barnett went 1-for-2; Cassidy Murphy went 1-for-3; and McKenzie Rolin also had a hit for EA.
Lexie Hollinger threw 5 innings, allowing two runs on two hits for the win.
EA (4-3) is playing Northview tonight in Bratt, Fla. for a regular-season contest.
In baseball action, EA topped JA 6-5.
