A former East Brewton teacher was arrested May 26 for allegedly having sexual contact with a student under 19 years old, according to the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office.
Jason Paul Blaney, 38, of Jay, Fla., was an employee at W.S. Neal High School, and served as the school’s math teacher, according to reports. He also served as a volleyball and softball coach at WSN.
Chief Deputy Mike Lambert said the case stems from March 30, 2017, when a complaint was received from the student in question’s parents who came and reported the incident to the ECSO. In April, Blaney submitted his resignation.
“The case is still under investigation at this time and possible further charges may be pending,” he said.
Blaney is currently out on a $10,000 bond, and the case has been turned over to the district attorney’s office.
