Annie Belle Hale McGilberry

Mrs. Annie Belle Hale McGilberry, 87, of Uriah, passed away on Tues., June 20, 2017, at Mobile Infirmary.

She was born and raised in Monroe County and was a member of Poplar Springs Baptist Church. She worked as a beautician/cosmetologist for 50 years. She was a member of the Eastern Star and the Poarch Creek Indian Tribe.

She is preceded in death by her parents, William and Phronie Colbert Hale; her husband, Norris McGilberry; brother, Cullen Colbert; and sister, Mae Belle Hale.
She is survived by her son, Ollie Hale “Hal” McGilberry and wife, Sonja, of Daphne; daughter, Phrann Elizabeth Fountain and husband, Michael, of Uriah; and three granddaughters, Michelle, Ashley and Kimberly.
Funeral Services were held June 24, 2017, at Monroe Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Billy Hodges officiating. Burial followed in Poplar Springs Cemetery. Visitation was held June 24 at the Funeral Home.

Brenda Mary Maddox Baccus

Brenda Mary Maddox Baccus, 68, of Atmore, passed away on Sat., June 24, 2017, in Monroeville.

She was a homemaker, born in Atmore on Jan. 26, 1949, to the late Alto and Dummer Foster Maddox.

She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and a grandmother to many.

She is preceded in death by her parents; and siblings, Delores Findley, Betty Slaughier, Jerry Maddox and Bennie Ray Maddox.

She is survived by her husband, Robert Baccus; two sons, Todd (Alicia) Smith of Mobile and Scottie Smith of Atmore; three daughters, April Caraway of Atmore, Angel (Paul) Caraway of Huxford and Genise Coleman of Frisco City; two brothers, Gene (Carolyn) Maddox of Dempolis and Allen Maddox; one sister, Marie Odom; special friends, Bill Plowmen; best friend, Peggy Gentry; 14 grandchildren, Erin, Brad, Parker, Trenton, Joey, Kandace, Cody, Dakota, Dylan, Holly, Brittany, Brandy, Destiny and Savana; six great-grandchildren, Emmett, Korie, Jamie, Jade, Taylin and Vera; and a host of nieces, nephews, neighborhood kids, family and friends.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. tomorrow, Thurs., June 29, 2017, from Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home chapel with Pastor Joey Smith officiating. Interment will follow in Enon Baptist Cemetery, in Enon.

Active pallbearers will be Tony Wilson, DakotaCaraway, Cody Caraway, Dylan Caraway, Kenny English and Brad Smith.

Honorary pallbearers will be Josh Boutwell and Gregg Johnson.

Family will receive friends from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. today, Wed., June 28, 2017, at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home.

Earline D. Coleman

Earline D. Coleman, 82, of Atmore, passed away on Sun., June 25, 2017, at her residence.

She was retired from NAS Pensacola, born in Poarch on June 20, 1935, to the late Homer Jack and Nora McGhee Daughtry. She was a member of Poarch Creek Indians and a member of the Friendly Holiness Church.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ralph Coleman Sr.; brother, W.C. Daughtry; and brother in law, Curtis McGhee.

Survivors are four sons, Ralph (Ann) Coleman Jr. of Fairview, Va., Homer (Brenda) Coleman of Huxford, Kenneth Coleman of Atmore and Doyle Wayne Coleman of Poarch; one daughter, Cathy (Kenneth) Langley of Atmore; two sisters, Pearline McGhee of Poarch and Betty (Leonard) Garlitz of Birmingham, Mich.; a lifelong friend, Peggy Norton of Atmore; 13 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and a host of family and friends.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. today, Wed., June 28, 2017, from the Friendly Holiness

Church with Bro. Ralph Coleman and Bro. Ray Ward officiating. Interment will follow in New Home Cemetery.

Active Pallbearers will be Steven Carpenter, Justin Coleman, Kenny Coleman Jr., Clayton Coon, Curtis Hayes and Kaweta Coon. Honorary pallbearers are Terry Ardis, Randall Ward, Toby Pierce and Joel White.

Essie Lee Coleman

Essie Lee Coleman, 91, of Bratt, Fla., passed away Tues., June 20, 2017, in Century, Fla.

She was co-owner at the Singer Sewing Co., born in Bratt, on June 12, 1926, to the late William Robert and Addie Bell Cooper Wiggins. She was a member of the Shiloh Freewill Baptist Church.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Henry Floyd Coleman; brothers, Leon Wiggins, Buddy Wiggins, Henry Wiggins and Rufus Wiggins; two sisters, Myra Brantley and Dorothy Norris.

Survivors are two daughters, Linda Coleman Lee of Lake City, Fla. and Karen Coleman (Ben) Leonardi of Ft. Walton Beach, Fla.; three sisters, Thelma Holley of Bratt, Jessie Wiggins of Pensacola, Fla. and Glennie Robbins of Bratt; five grandchildren, Jeffrey (Jennifer) Lee, Chris (Alex) Tyson, Jason Lee, Leda (Jason) Broxson and Aaron (Nina) Moring; 10 great-grandchildren, Jaxson Lee, Connor Tyson, Ryan Tyson, Megan Tyson, Andrew Lee, J.D. Lee, Cori Broxson, Matthew Lee, Claire Broxson and Jace Lee; and many nieces and nephews and special friends, Marlin and Bertha Metzler and Ronald and Harvette Boone.

Services were held June 23, 2017, from the Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Ted Bridges officiating. Interment followed in Godwin Cemetery.

Active Pallbearers were Greg Robbins, Brian Robbins, Marvin Wiggins, Darrell Holley, John McCall and Brett Ward.

Gayle Alston Hanks

Mrs. Gayle Alston Hanks, 92, passed away on Sat., June 24, 2017, in Atmore.

She was a native and former resident of Mt. Vernon and has resided in Atmore for the past 85 years. She was a member of the Healing Waters Church.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Theodore and Daisye Alston; husband, Edward Hanks Jr.; and brother, Ted Alston, Jr.

She is survived by one son and daughter in law, Bob and Loretta Hanks of Ellijay, Ga.; one daughter and son in law, Eugenia and Stan Pope of Atmore; five grandchildren, Stephanie Herndon Still, Matthew Dodge, Karen Worden, Keith Maddox and Keith Pope; and eight great-grandchildren, Luke Edward Still, Olivia Hope Dodge, Shyla Pope, Aliah Pope, Samantha Pope, Jake Worden, Jayme Worden and Areia Worden.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. today, Wed., June 28, 2017, from the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Richard Daniels officiating.

Burial will follow at the Oak Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until the 10 a.m. service time today, June 28, at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Mark McLain, Joe Key, Jimmy Key, Jimmy Cowart, Eric Kimbro and John Johnson.

Kathy S. Reid

Mrs. Kathy S. Reid, 58, of Atmore, passed away on Sat., June 17, 2017, at her home.

She was born in Monroe County and had been a resident of Atmore for the past six years. She was an EMT intermediate and a homemaker. She attended the First Presbyterian Church of Atmore where she was active in the ladies group.

She is preceded in death by her father, Franklin D. Smith.
Survivors include her husband, David Ronnie Reid of Atmore; three daughters, Brandy Marie Reid of Excel, Tiffany (John Richardson) Riley of Mexia and Robyn (Marty) Shorter of Brewton; her mother, Mary Ann Silcox  (Tony) Kervin of the Old Stage Road Community; step-mother, Frances Smith of Monroeville; two sisters, Peggy (William) Owens of Excel and Cherry Hurry of Oak Island, N.C.; six grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.
Memorial services were held at June 23, 2017, from Monroe Chapel Funeral Home with Pastor Jim Thorpe officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Pilots For Christ, P.O. Box 707, Monroeville, AL 36461.

Kimeko Shyrdia Arnold

Ms. Kimeko Shydria Arnold, 40, a resident of Atmore, passed away June 19, 2017.

She was employed as a cashier at the Diamond on East Nashville in Atmore.

Survivors include three children, Katayre Arnold, Kytiere Arnold and Kaiden Arnold; two grandchildren, Kaison Arnold and Karsyn Arnold; father, L.C. Arnold; sisters, Tracey Arnold and Faith Arnold; brothers, Lorenzo Arnold and Lawrence Arnold; and a host of relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Mon., July 3, 2017, from Empowerment Tabernacle Christian Center. Viewing will be held from 11 a.m. until the 1 p.m. service time at the church with Overseer Darryl North, pastor, officiating. Interment will be held in Fairview cemetery.

Levice Marie Haynie

Levice Marie Haynie, 78, of Atmore, passed away Wed., June 14, 2017, in Pensacola.

She was a technical editor with Civil Service (NAS) Pensacola, born on Aug. 15, 1938, to the late E.K. and Bertha Lambert Bowman in Atmore. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Atmore.

She is preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Robert Angus Bowman.

Survivors are her husband, Luke Haynie of Atmore; two daughters, Tya (David) Hoftling of South Carolina and Mia Evatt of Saraland; grandchildren, Letah (Nathan) Bishop and Dorian Stoutamire; and one brother, E.K. “Bo” Bowman Jr. of Homosassa, Fla.

Services were held June 23, 2017, from the Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Arnold Hendrix officiating. Interment followed in Oak Hill Cemetery.

Family received friends June 22 at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home.

Marion Lorraine Galloway Harrison

Marion Lorraine Galloway Harrison was born Feb. 12, 1931, in Gasque, Ala., to William Galloway and Linnie Nelson Galloway.

She passed away June 22, 2017, at the Century Care Center in Century, Fla.

Born and raised in Baldwin County on the beautiful Bon Secour Bay, she graduated from Foley High School. She later married Leonard Harrison, and moved to Atmore, where they raised three sons.

She was a faithful partner to her husband in their trucking and farming businesses. She is known for her deep love for her husband and sons, and her green thumb. She grew beautiful ferns and plants, and owned and operated Country Plants for several years at her home. There was no flower or plant that she could not grow, and constantly had beautiful blooms in her yard.

She was a long time member of the Canoe Baptist Church.

She is preceded in death by her parents, William and Linnie Galloway; sister, Wilhemina Galloway Ryan; her beloved husband, James Leonard Harrison I; and son, James Leonard Harrison Jr. (Jimmy).

She is survived by her sons, Wayne L. (Barbara) Harrison and Dale Harrison; eight grandchildren, Jim (Amanda) Harrison, Glendon (Amber) Harrison, Dustin (Emily) Harrison, Lynn (Cooper) Thurber, Chris (Courtney) Harrison, Travis (Stacey) Harrison, Michael Harrison and Lesley Harrison; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Visitation was held at Johnson Quimby Funeral Home on June 24, 2017, with  the Rev. Waylon Stuckey, pastor of Canoe Baptist Church, officiating.

Pallbearers were her grandsons, Jim Harrison, Glendon Harrison, Dustin Harrison, Chris Harrison, Travis Harrison and Michael Harrison.

Burial will be held at a later date in Oak Hill Cemetery.

Michael Earl Grindle

Michael Earl Grindle, long time resident and minister to the Atmore Community, left his earthly home on Sat., June 24, 2017. He was the minister at Presley Street Baptist Church, on staff with Johnson Quimby Funeral Home and ministered to many community organizations and people.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Rosemary Grindle; sister, Denise Grindle; and father and mother in law, Doyal and Maud Phillips.

Mike leaves his wife of 47 years, Barbara P. Grindle; two brothers, John Grindle (Patricia) and Tommy Grindle (Audrey); sister in law, Linda P. Godwin; brother in law, Larry Phillips (Judy); and many loving nieces and nephews.

Many honors and awards were earned and cherished by Mike. Some of those include Eagle Scout with Palms, member of the Board for Boy Scouts of America and was awarded the Certificate of Appreciation by Homestead Hospice for Veterans to the U.S. Air Force.

Mike served his country in the U.S. Air Force and then continued his education by finishing his undergraduate studies with Mobile College. He then answered the call of God by finishing his studies in theology with the New Orleans Baptist Theology Seminary.

Roger Howard Lindsay

Roger Howard Lindsay, 70, of Atmore, passed away Thurs., June 22, 2017, at his residence.

He was a tool polisher, born on May 8, 1947, to the late Thomas Henry and Emma Dean Holden Lindsay.

He is preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Raliegh Lindsay

Survivors are two sons, Scott (Liz) Leatherwood of Mobile and Robert Leatherwood of Atmore; four grandchildren, Jessica, Justin, Robert and Tanner; and a host of great-grandchildren.

Graveside services were held June 25, 2017 from the Lindsey Cemetery  in Booneville.

Family received friends June 25 at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home.

Rupard Muldre Murray

Mr. Rupard Muldre Murray, 97, passed away on Mon., June 26, 2017, in Century, Fla.

He was a native of Moyeville and has been a resident of Bluff Springs, Fla. since 1965. He was retired from NAS with 31 years of service. He was of the Baptist Faith.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Hazel Odom Murray; parents, George and Annie Murray; and two sisters, Willie Mae Childress-Burkett and Mildred Mooney.

He is survived by a special cousin, Helen Nemunis; and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today, Wed., June 28, 2017, from the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Jimmy Willis officiating.

Burial will follow at the Little Escambia Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. June 28, at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.

Sallie Marie Dunsford

Sallie Marie Dunsford, 71, of Century, Fla., passed away Sun., June 25, 2017, at her residence.

She was a homemaker born in Pensacola, Fla. on Sept. 15, 1945, to the late Homer and Lorraine Chavers Lawson.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Andrew T. (A.T.) Dunsford; daughter, Susan Angela Nall; and sister, Glenda Faye Byrd.

Survivors are three sons, Butch (Karen) Nall, Buster (Melinda) Nall and Steven Nall all of Century; one daughter, Sheryl (Ken) White of Jay, Fla.; two brothers, Gene (Patricia) Lawson of Gulf Port, Miss. and Ray (Gloria Jean) Lawson of Century; one sister, Patsy (Joe) Cobb of Tuscaloosa; and four grandchildren, Jacob Lowery, Cody Lowery, Shea Nall and Lea Nall.

Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. today, Wed., June 28, 2017, in Serenity Gardens, with Bro. Mitch Herring and Bro Chris Hawkins officiating.

Terry Lynn Hall

Mr. Terry Lynn Hall, 64, of Atmore, passed away Fri., June 23, 2017, at his home.

He was born at Maxwell Air Force Base Hospital in Montgomery County. He had been a resident of Escambia County for 23 years. He worked with CSX Railroad in welding for 34 years. He attended the Church of the Living God in Atmore.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Walter Glen Hall and Helen Jenell Watson Hall; and his brother, Billy Glen Hall.
Survivors include his wife, Paula Hall of Atmore; his daughter, Lesa (Robert) Lock of Laughlin, Nev.; two brothers, Gregory Nixon (Sheila) Hall of Repton and Gary Floyd (Dawn) Hall, of Monroeville; two sisters, Brenda Kay White of Excel and Redetha (Johnny) Saucer of Goodway Junction; two step-sons, Scottie (Kristy) Steele of Flomaton and Leroy (Kellie) Steele of Flomaton; and 11 grandchildren.
Funeral services were held June 26, 2017, from Monroe Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Earl Harrison officiating. Burial followed in Baggett’s Chapel Cemetery. Visitation was held from June 26 at the funeral home.
