Three local businesses donated food, water and shelter to first responders Saturday during the fire at Tiger Sul in Atmore.
Atmore Fire Chief Ronald Peebles said the Atmore Country Club — which was hosting a tournament, closed and opened its doors for rehabilitation purposes and provided golf carts to transport firefighters back and forth from the scene if needed, David’s Catfish provided 100 hamburgers with all of the fixings and the Kangaroo Minute Shop donated food and drinks.
Mayor Jim Staff said it was a community effort, and many pitched in to help when needed.
Peebles said Atmore Ambulance handled all of the food and drinks, and ran the rehab center.
