The Atmore Area YMCA is going through a change right now that the nonprofit hopes will bring more familiarity to the organization.
The change that is being made is largely revitalizing the brand, mainly the logo.
The logo will be more colorful and focus on the Y as a opposed to the YMCA.
Ross Terry, manager of the Atmore Area YMCA, said the change is about looking forward and getting out into the community.
“A lot of people are familiar with the YMCA as the Y,” Terry said. “This change is about updating the brand, and being more in touch with the public. Most people call us the Y, so that’s what we will refer to ourselves as.”
The new updated logo will reflect several things that the Y stands for.
It will be available to each Y in different color pallets with each Y choosing the one they feel fits them best.
Terry said the YA colors will represent what the Y stands for.
“According to the information they have given us, the logo is going to have a variety of colors because all of the communities that the Y serves are diverse.”
The message that the Y is pushing has not changed though focusing on communities.
