Grady Lee Huggins
Grady Lee Huggins, 78, of Jay, Fla., passed away on Mon., Sept. 11, 2017, in Pensacola, Fla.
He was a tire installer employed by Brantley Tires, born in Pensacola, on Feb. 2, 1939, to the late Elijah and Ruby Huggins.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Emma Huggins; grandson, Sonny Blackmon; and son in law, Marvin Mason Jr.
Survivors are two sons, George Blackmon and Allen Blackmon; four daughters, Glenda Mason, Cathy Blackmon, Diane Blackmon and Mona (Richard) Schoenbaum; one sister, Frances Noel; and 11 grandchildren.
Graveside services were held Fri., Sept. 15, 2017, from Serenity Gardens. Interment followed in Serenity Gardens. Active pallbearers were Dennis Jerrel, Rusty Slate, Joseph Clark, Newman Clark, Bryan Mason and Donnie Ray Blackmon.
Family received friends Sept. 15 at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home.
Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Inc. was in charge of all arrangements.
David W. Smith
Funeral service for Mr. David W. Smith, 64, of Mobile, will be announced by Turner Funeral Chapel LLC.
Mr. Smith fell asleep in the arms of Jesus at his residence on Thurs., Sept. 14, 2017.
Jane Lee Russell
Ms. Jane Lee Russell, 65, of Atmore, entered her heavenly mansion on Tues., Sept. 12, 2017, as a result of a house fire.
A native of Atmore, Ms. Russell attended Escambia County Training School. She was a homemaker who enjoyed reading, spending time with her grandchildren, going to church and cooking. One of her favorite sayings was “Hey, Hey, Hey.” She was a member of Emanuel Faith Center in Davisville, Fla., where she served on the kitchen committee.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Carma Russell Rudolph; her parents, James Sr. and Mary Russell; a grandson, Donta D. Russell; a sister, Mary Cotton; and three brothers, James Russell Jr., Josephus Russell and (her twin) Wayne Lee Russell.
Those left to cherish memories of her life are a daughter, Anjanette (Charles) Russell Purifoy of Mobile; a son, Garrick D. (Detrie) Russell of Mobile; two sisters, Barbara Lendore of Brooklyn, N.Y. and Patricia Russell of Atmore; a brother, Ervin Russell of Atmore; 10 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral services will be held this Thurs., Sept. 21, 2017, at 1 p.m. at Lighthouse Apostolic Holiness Church, 95 Monroe St., Atmore with Elder Ledell Johnson Jr., eulogist, and Apostle Robert Grissett, host pastor, presiding. Inhumation will be in Stallworth Cemetery. Family will receive friends at the funeral home today, Wed., Sept. 20, from 5-7 p.m. with Turner Funeral Chapel LLC directing.
Devere Knowles Moye
Mrs. Devere Knowles Moye, 85, passed away on Sat., Sept. 16, 2017, in Jay, Fla.
Mrs. Moye was a native and life long resident of Flomaton. She was a wonderful and loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and mother in law. She retired from the Escambia County Board of Education as a bus driver with 34 years of service. She attended the Lambeth Holiness Church, where she was a Sunday school teacher. She is preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Leroy Moye; parents; and all of her siblings.
She is survived by her three sons, James Earl (Darlene) Moye of Flomaton, Curtis (Charlotte) Moye of Flomaton and Robert (Anita) Moye of Flomaton; two daughters, Linda Sue (David) Raines of Atmore and Glenda Moye of Flomaton; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and one sister in law, Clara Stokes of Flomaton.
Funeral services were held on Tues., Sept. 19, 2017, at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. Josh Pope and Rev. Andy Boutwell officiating.
Burial will follow at the Traveler’s Rest Cemetery.
Visitation was held Sept. 18 at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were C. Robert Moye, Nicholas Moye, Will Schneeflock, Wes Erickson, Randy Jackson and Jeremy Pridgen.
Honorary Pallbearers were Ronald Moye and David Gertson.

Maeola Goldthrip
Maeola Goldthrip, 81, of Evergreen, passed away Sat., Sept. 16, 2017, at Mobile Infirmary hospital. Funeral services will be this Sat. Sept. 23, 2017, at 11 a.m. at Antioch Baptist Church No. 1, in Tunnel Springs. Burial will be held at the church cemetery.

William Lewis
William Lewis, 98, of Atmore, passed away on Fri., Sept. 15, 2017, at his residence. Viewing will be held this Fri. Sept. 22, 2017, from 2-6 p.m. at Christian Memorial Funeral Home Chapel.
Funeral services will be held Sat. Sept. 23, 2017, at 1 p.m. at Pleasant Hill Full Gospel Church.
Burial will be at the Stallworth Cemetery with military honors. Christian Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.
George Robert Montgomery
George Robert Montgomery, 64, passed away on Tues., Sept. 12, 2017, at his residence.
He was born Sept. 22, 1953, to the late Mr. and Mrs. George Montgomery.
He leaves to cherish his memories with his five children, Carla (Isaac) Dailey, George Lee (Nani Ka) Montgomery, Kenny Montgomery and Latriesha Montgomery, all of California, and Jeffrey Montgomery of Long Beach Miss.; six grandchildren; three sisters, Catherine McCreary and Suzette Baram of Atmore, and Callie (Greg) Moye of Pensacola, Fla.; three brothers, Edgar (Delores) Montgomery of Walnut Hill, Fla., Eddie L. Montgomery of Atmore and Lloyd D. (Peggy) Montgomery of Mobile; two aunts, Cora Lee Jones of Ashville, N.C. and Cherrie B. Montgomery of Atmore; a special niece, Thaquella J. Nickson; a special brother-in-law, Gregory Moye; special friends, Peggy Wallace, John Nattles, Eartha Payne and Charles Jackson; and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.
Viewing will be held Fri., Sept. 22, at the Mayberry Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at the Oldship Baptist Church on Sat., Sept. 23, at 11 a.m. with Pastor James T. Crook officiating. Interment will follow at Pineview Cemetery with Mayberry Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
