Northview fell to Jay, Fla. 49-18 tonight.
Chiefs head football coach Derek Marshman said the better team won.
“There’s no way around it,” Marshman said. “We don’t win many games scoring 18 points, and giving up 49.”
Marshman said the Chiefs worked on tackling all week this week, but that didn’t translate into tonight’s game.
“We’ve got to learn how to finish drives,” he added. “We never were able to finish off drives.”
Marshman said the team had a lot of bad turnovers as well.
Next week, NHS hosts Pensacola Catholic for homecoming.
Marshman said to get the boys focused on the game, the mentality of having a wind shield will be stressed.
“We’ve got to put this game behind us and move on,” he said. “This team has just got to continue to battle and believe in the process, and believe in the resiliency and hope to find a spark.”
Marshman said he couldn’t promise the Chiefs will win the next week or in two weeks, but added that the program is going to get back to a winning program.
