APD responded to 3 separate incidents Wednesday morning

An Atmore man is being charged with multiple counts of robbery, according to the Atmore Police Department.

Chief Chuck Brooks said in a release that James Ronald Marshall Jr., of Atmore, has been arrested and charged with three counts of robbery I and theft of property I.

Brooks said that a suspicious male wearing a Halloween style mask early Wednesday morning visited several Circle K and Shell Stations. The APD responded to the Circle K convenience store at 325 N. Main St. at approximately 2:18 a.m., he said.

“Officers arrived on scene and met with the clerk,” Brooks said. “The clerk told officers while standing outside the store, a male subject walked up wearing a blue hoodie sweatshirt, blue jeans, boots and a Halloween style mask. The clerk said the male suspect walked into the store, but she remained outside because she was scared. The clerk said the male suspect stayed in the store for a few seconds and then walked outside. The clerk told the male suspect that she was calling the police and he shouted an expletive at her as he fled on foot.”

Brooks said while APD officers were searching the area for the suspect, now known as Marshall, officers were called to the Circle K convenience store at 901 W. Nashville Ave., at approximately 2:35 a.m., in response to an armed robbery.

“Officers immediately responded to the location on West Nashville and made contact with the store clerk who said a male wearing a blue sweatshirt hoodie, blue jeans, boots and a Halloween mask entered the store armed with a handgun and demanded cash,” he said. “The clerk told officers the suspect fled the store after receiving an undisclosed amount of cash.”

Some time later, at approximately 4:16 a.m., the APD was notified that an armed robbery just occurred at the Shell Station at 1204 E. Nashville Ave., Brooks said.

“Officers responded to that location and discovered the suspect responsible was the same person from the other stores,” he said. “According to the clerk, the suspect entered the store armed with a gun and demanded money. The clerk said after receiving an undisclosed amount of cash, the suspect fled the store travelling in a silver truck.”

During the APD’s investigation at the Shell Station, it received a phone call indicating that the subject driving a silver truck had crashed on Sardis Church Road, Brooks said.

“Officers responded to the crash scene and made contact with the driver, James Ronald Marshall Jr., of Atmore,” he said in the release. “Atmore Police learned at the traffic crash the truck Marshall was driving had been stolen from a residence on Beacon Lane. Marshall was the only occupant in the single vehicle crash.”

Brooks said officers recovered cash, firearms and some electronics at the scene.

Marshall was transported to the Escambia County Detention Center.
