Blue Devils win Thanksgiving tournament in Gulf Shores

Escambia County’s Lue Williams blocked a last-second shot and drained 26 points to help lead the Blue Devils to a 54-53 victory over Spanish Fort in the Gulf Shores Thanksgiving Classic on Nov. 21.
Demetrion Barnes, who also finished in double figures with 15 points, joined Williams.
In earlier tournament action, ECHS beat host, Gulf Shores, 68-49.
Malike Brown led with 22 points; Williams added 15 points; Barnes had 12 points; and John Dirden chipped in eight points.
ECHS led 16-14 after the first period; the game was tied 30-30 at halftime; and the Blue Devils outscored GSHS 22-6 in the third period.
ECHS improves to 4-0 on the season. The Blue Devils faced Flomaton on Nov. 28 at home, and then hosts Clarke County tomorrow.

Alma Bryant 76
Escambia County’s pace was too much for Alma Bryant in the fourth period of a 91-76 victory on the first day of the Gulf Shores Thanksgiving Classic.
The Blue Devils outscored the Class 7A team 31-11 in the final period of a game that had four finish in double figures.
Demetrion Barnes led ECHS with 24 points; Malike Brown and Lue Williams had 22 points each; and John Dirden added 10 points. Xavier Lymon chipped in 9 points.
