City approves demo

The Atmore City Council adopted resolutions to incur fixing costs on demolitions that occurred on Hollis and Perch Streets at its meeting on March 12.

The council adopted the resolutions for the residences that were located at 0 Hollis and 610 Perch Streets. The cost for the Hollis Street was $3,313.41 and the cost for the Perch Street demolition was $5,118.16.

Once the resolution was adopted, a lawyer will place a lean on both properties.

In other business:

• the council approved the demolition of a residence at 154 Trout St. A public nuisance notice expired on March 10;

• recognized that the National Day of Prayer will be held on May 3, 2018. The prayer on site will be held at city hall at 10:15 a.m., and Atmore’s National Day of Prayer Committee to hold its annual event the same day at Escambia County High School’s Cornell Torrence Gymnasium at 5:30 p.m.

• recognized that Robert Harrison will be honoring all first responders on June 9;

• approved the Leadership of Atmore Class of 2018’s fundraiser, Chicken on Church, to be held on Thurs., April 12, from the Church Street Incubator to the Frontier building; and,

• went into executive session to discuss the good name and character of an employee. The session lasted approximately 15 minutes.
