Atmore residents are now able to buy alcohol on Sundays after the Alabama State Legislature enacted resolution 2018-256 on Wednesday during its most recent session.

In January, the city council adopted a resolution to allow alcohol sales on Sundays starting at 10 a.m. The resolution then went to the legislature, where HB404, sponsored by state Rep. Alan Baker, was enacted.

The new law is effective immediately, and allows for businesses with proper licenses to sell alcohol starting at 10 a.m. on Sundays.

Gov. Kay Ivey allowed HB404 to become law without her signature, according to Baker.
