Joan Darnell Curtis Everett

Joan Darnell Curtis Everett, 75, a resident of Bay Minette, passed into the arms of Jesus on Fri., May 4, 2018.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Freddie and Lorraine Centanne.

She is survived by her children, Tina Milham Marmolejo, Shawn Irle and Kevin (Lee Anna) Irle; her sister, Beverly Godwin; five grandchildren, Veronica Marmolejo, Raquel Marmolejo, Adrian Marmolejo, Cameron Irle and Mason Irle; four great-grandchildren, Calix, Luna, Lincoln and Ivy; one niece, Tracey Hendricks; and other relatives and close friends.

Visitation was held at Serenity Funeral Home, 8691 Old Pascagoula Rd, Theodore, AL on May 15, 2018. A funeral service followed.

What a wonderful Mother’s Day for her this year to spend with her mother in Heaven.

 

Barbara Hobbs Dorriety

Mrs. Barbara Hobbs Dorriety, 68, passed away on Sat., May 12, 2018, at her home in Robinsonville.

She was a native of Atmore and has resided in Robinsonville most of her life. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a nurse for 40 years and a member of the Robinsonville Baptist Church.

She is preceded in death by her parents, W.C. and Alice Hobbs; and one sister, Libby Prater.

She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Charles A. Dorriety of Robinsonville; two sons, Matt (Lisa) Dorriety of Fairhope and Mark (April) Dorriety of Robinsonville; one sister, Gayle (Buddy) Byrd of Atmore; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Funeral services were held on May 15, 2018 from the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Doug Odom officiating.

Burial followed at the Robinsonville Baptist Cemetery.

Visitation was held May 14, 2018 at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.

Pallbearers were Cody Dorriety, Brent Dorriety, Mark Dorriety, Joshua Dorriety, Austin Dorriety and Trey Robison.

Loraine Yvonne Johnson Weinmann

Loraine Yvonne Johnson Weinmann was born May 14, 1941 in Robinsonville.

She was preceded in death by her parents, D.V. and Mamie Hardee Johnson; her brothers, Aubrey Lee Johnson and Dennis V. Johnson; and great-granddaughter, Anna Grace Stanley.

She is survived by her husband, Ron Weinmann of Atmore; her children and their families that she loved dearly, Janet R. Simmons of Suwanee, Ga., April Simmons Mullen and husband Mike of New Iberia, La., Tammy Simmons Searcy and husband Michael of Robinsonville and Shanon Simmons McWhorter and husband Bob of Wetumpka; grandchildren and great-grandchildren, include Jared Mullen, Cody Mullen, Jennifer Stanley, Tori Searcy, Erica Avant, Kelly McWhorter, Maly Mullen, Sutton Mullen, Kai Mullen, Robert Stanley and Colton Stanley; stepchildren include, Ronell McKinley of Atmore, Brandon Weinmann of Atlanta, Ga., Scott Weinmann of Charleston, S.C, Crystal Weinmann of Medina, Tenn. and Joelyn Mitchell of Milton, Fla.

Loraine was “Mom and Granny” to her family. She was born in the early 1940s during the time of the depression and learned to do many things well. She was very frugal yet generous with her family and friends. She was taught by her mother and became an excellent seamstress and sewing was a favorite hobby through the years. She used her creative talents to make cherished blankets for her children, grand and great-grandchildren that were the envy of many.

She sewed therapy dolls, aprons and other useful items for Alzheimer patients and Covenant Hospice, an organization she supported. Many pillow case dresses, salvation dolls and boys’ shorts were created with love at her sewing machine.

She loved the Lord and labored to send the message of Christ with her church family to other countries with these creations. In her later years, she taught herself how to crochet and knit. Family and friends were showered with dishcloths, pot scrubbers and scarves as she shared her talents with others. Loraine was employed by First National Bank of Atmore, retiring after 37 years to do what she loved best, spending time with family, travel and do volunteer work. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the American Legion Post 90 for many years. A member of Robinsonville Baptist Church, she was past church treasurer, assistant church treasurer and assistant Sunday School Director. She sang in the choir and was a great friend and supporter of the many ministries there. She coordinated the Samaritans Purse shoebox ministry and her room would be filled with shoeboxes. She was a prayer warrior and whether you were family, friend or stranger she carried many burdens to the throne of God for others! An Avid Auburn fan, she enjoyed attending games with her family and watching them on TV. She loved wearing her favorite team colors during football season (Go Tigers). Loraine’s life journey came to an end on April 30 after a brief illness. She was surrounded by her family, and Pastor Mark Jones, whom she loved dearly. She will be dearly missed.

Funeral services were held May 3, 2018, from the Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Mark Jones officiating. Burial followed in Robinsonville Baptist Church Cemetery.

Active pallbearers were Bob McWhorter, Mike Mullen, Michael Searcy, Jarod Mullen, Cody Mullen and Robbie Stanley. Honorary pallbearers were Jennifer Stanley, Tori Searcy, Erica McWhorter, Kelly McWhorter, Webb Nall and her closest friend Georgia Brooks.

Visitation was held May 2, 2018, from the Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home.

Patrick Conn

Mr. Patrick “Pat” Conn, 60, passed away on Fri., May 11, 2018, in Mobile.

He was a native of California and has resided in Atmore for most of his life. He was an avid Auburn fan, well liked and was of the Catholic Faith.

He is preceded in death by his faithful companion, Susan Brown; parents, Harold and Jean Conn; step-mother, Betty Conn; and one brother, Jimbo Johnson.

Survivors include his two sons, Chris (Sandy) Brown of Oak Grove, Fla. and Clint (Liana Lambeth) Brown of Atmore; two daughters, Shelley (Don) Presley of Perdido and Blaire (Chris) Singleton of Atmore; one brother, Hal Johnson of Atmore; and 11 grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today, Wed., May 16, 2018, from the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Ted Bridges officiating.

Burial followed at the Oak Hill Cemetery.

Visitation was held on May 15, 2018 at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.

Pallbearers were Dale Brown, Dawson Brown, Keaton Brown, Tyler Presley, Daniel Lambeth, Nick Johnson, Rodney Helton and Tracy Edwards.

Honorary pallbearers were Tripp Presley, Kyptin Presley, Kelby Amos, Ronnie Cloud, Jaxon Singleton and Cole Singleton.

Jack Robert McCullough

The Rev. Jack Robert McCullough, 83, passed away on Sat., May 12, 2018, at his home in Walnut Hill, Fla.

He was a native of Enon, Fla. and has resided Walnut Hill most of his life. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, avid fisherman, hunter, faithful servant of the Lord and loved the outdoors. He retired from Monsanto with 35 years of service, pastored various Assembly of God Church’s in the area, veteran of the Korean War and was a member of the Dry Springs Community Church.

He is preceded in death by his daughter, Cynthia McCullough; parents, Lee and Rosie Lee McCullough; one brother, Clyde “Buddy” McCullough; and one sister, Molly Blackman.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Margaret Phillips McCullough of Walnut Hill; one son, Malcom Jack (Donna) McCullough of Milton, Fla.; two daughters, LaJuana M. (Robert) Graham of Tyler Town, Miss. and Jacqueline McCullough of Bratt, Fla.; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held on May 15, 2018 from the Petty-Eastside Chapel with the Rev. Joe Gipson and the Rev. John Spence officiating.

Burial followed at the Dry Springs Cemetery.

Visitation was held May 15 at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.

Pallbearers were Christopher McCullough, Nathaniel Graham, Joshua Bennett,

Vonsha Marshall, John McCullough and John “Junior” Cole.

Honorary pallbearers were Bobby Wiseman, Clifton Pack, Robert McCullough and Wayne McCullough.
