Are you ready for the happiest time of year?

As my mom and I drove through downtown Atmore Sunday night, my mouth dropped.

The city of Atmore and all of those who helped did a great job of decorating downtown for the holiday season.

We are truly ready for the happiest time of the year.

Every year, it seems like the city takes what it did last year and kicks it up a notch.

Last week before leaving for Thanksgiving, I couldn’t help but think that the lighted ornaments looked a bit different.

Am I wrong that some are new and some are the same old, same old?

Then, you have the overhanging Christmas decoration above Main Street. That’s probably the best part, along with the lights on top of each historic building downtown.

As one drives through, there is an optical illusion that points toward the other side of town. When you drive through, take notice, but be sure to break for anybody stopping short.

Yep, the holiday season will start in earnest next week for the Jingle Bell Walk and then the Twilight Christmas Parade.

Shortly after noticing every little light hanging up downtown, I wondered how long will they be burning this year?

My suggestion is Jan. 6, 2019, as that is the last day of Christmas, and the celebration of Epiphany.

Is there anybody with me?
