Mrs. Dorothy “Dot” Vickers Faircloth, 91, of Northport, formally of Atmore, died April 20, 2019 at Forest Manor Nursing Home.
She was born in Rutledge on Aug. 14, 1927, to the late Rev. and Mrs. John Clinton Vickers.

She was a long time resident of Atmore. She moved there as a methodist minister’s daughter, but stayed there after falling in love and marrying Taylor. She loved her family and was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. When her girls were young, she devoted countless hours to serving as their Sunday school teacher, UMYF leader, PTA president, room mother and Girl Scout leader. Later in life, nothing made her happier than spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was an active member of the First United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Women, the Delta Kappa Gamma Society International teacher’s honorary, the Atmore Library Board and the Atmore Historical Society.
As an Escambia county educator for over 30 years, she influenced countless Atmore youth through her love and vast knowledge of history. Immediately after graduating from Huntingdon College, she taught at Escambia County High School. The majority of her teaching career was spent as an American history teacher at the Escambia County Junior High School and then at the Escambia County Middle School.
She was an excellent cook, who loved to share her cooking with friends and family. She and her husband, Taylor, will always be remembered for the time, love, talents and energy they gave to their family, their church and their town. We were all blessed by having known and been a part of each of their lives.
