Two Escambia County area football teams are ranked in the Alabama Sports Writers Association’s preseason poll, which was released today.

Defending Class 3A state champion Flomaton is ranked at No. 1, and Escambia Academy, AISA Class 2A runner up in 2018, is ranked at No. 3.

Piedmont, Gordo, Randolph County and Pike County complete the top five in Class 3A.

Autauga Academy is No. 1 in AISA, and Monroe Academy is at No. 2. Glenwood and Wilcox Academy round out the top five at 4 and 5, respectively.

Flomaton begins its season on Aug. 30 at home against Northview, Fla. EA opens at Snook Christian.
