The 17^th annual Taste of the South will be held today, Sept. 19, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Heritage Park.

The event, an area favorite, not only benefits the area and the program of work by the Atmore Area Chamber of Commerce, offers quality food options and a good place for friends to meet, according to a release.

Participants in the event compete for one of the top awards, namely Best Taste commercial, amateur, best dessert, beverage (new category) and best decorated booth.

Tickets are on sale for $10 a piece. Each ticket contains one favorite ticket and five taste tickets.

At 8 p.m., the best winners will be announced.
