Sitting inside of David’s Catfish House Monday night, I looked around and saw the community in action during the holiday.
Leadership Atmore’s 2020 class was holding a pancake with Santa fundraiser at the local eatery.
Kids, adults and others milled about serving the flat cakes to the excited crowd.
One of the fortunate, I guess, things about living in Atmore is the lack of cell service. There, I said it.
Yes, it may be a challenge to get adequate and good cell service at times.
I’m thankful there wasn’t a bar to be had on my phone during the fundraiser.
Have you ever sat down and not looked at your phone?
For me, being able to sit there and look out over the crowd of people, enjoying their meal and each other was quite refreshing.
Mr. and Mrs. Claus were a popular attraction of the night, and even Elsa and Anna made their presence known at David’s.
But alas, my evening had to come to an end at the fundraiser as I had to rush back to the office and finish up a little work.
By 9 p.m., I was tuckered out and went home to watch my favorite comic book shows, “The Flash” and “Arrow.”
But, the night didn’t go far from me because when I got settled, I smiled and thought, “what a community.”
