GECA’s ‘Arsenic and Old Lace’ performances rescheduled

Due to an emergency with a cast member, the Greater Escambia Council for the Arts is rescheduling the remaining performances of “Arsenic and Old Lace.” Director Phil Johnson has arranged for Eric Van Devort with Main Street Theatrics in Pensacola to step in to the role and finish the play’s run. The cast will rehearse Tuesday night, Sept. 21.
The Dessert Show that was set for Tuesday night has been rescheduled for Friday night, Sept. 24. If you have tickets for the Tuesday show, you’re welcome to come, watch the rehearsal and enjoy the desserts that are already there. Or if you have tickets to the Tuesday night show, you may exchange them for the Friday night show or get a refund.
The school programs planned for this week and the United Fund kick-off set for Thursday night will go on as scheduled.
“As we always say, life happens,” Johnson said. “I have performed with Eric before. He has agreed to take a leave from a show he is in rehearsals with and come to Atmore to do the role with us. Eric has done the role before and he thinks he can get up to speed quickly, and I agree. We look forward to continuing the run of Arsenic and Old Lace and we hope the community will come out and support GECA’s efforts. Another theater saying is ‘The show must go on.’ And so it will.”
Tickets for the Friday and Saturday night shows are available at Atmore News, 128 S. Main Street.
