City council approves bid for AFD

The Atmore City Council approved Monday a bid for 24 self contained breathing apparatuses for the fire department at its meeting.
The bid was accepted from NAFECO for $80,448.
Chief Ronald Peebles thanked the council at the conclusion of the meeting.
“This will make life way better for our guys,” Peebles said.
In other business, the council:
• heard a proclamation, proclaiming January as National Mentoring Month.
