H. Wayne Harris, 60, of Atmore, passed away on Monday April 20, 2020, in a Mobile hospital.

Wayne was born in Brewton on August 20, 1959. He moved to Jackson, Mich. at the age of 6 with his mother, where he attended school and graduated from Vandercook High.

He moved back to Atmore at the age of 28, where he worked as a butcher most of his life.

He was an avid fisherman, hunter, gardener enjoying anything outdoors. He enjoyed time spent with family and friends and donated regularly to St. Jude Hospital in hopes that one day they would find a cure.

Wayne is survived by his wife, Lora Harris of Atmore; mother, Francise Baggett of Atmore; daughter, Brittany Harris McElroy of Atmore; his precious grandson, Will McElroy; two brothers, Mike Harris of Maryland and David Harris of Atmore; along with many uncles, aunts, cousins and friends.

Wayne was proceeded in death by his father, Hartward James Harris of Flomaton; and grandparents, Sam Harris and Birdie Wasdin of Flomaton, and Grady and Kathleen Harrelson of Atmore.

A celebration of Wayne’s life will be held May 9, 2020 at his home at 4 p.m.
