Seventeen rising K-1 through second graders at Rachel Patterson Elementary School are participating in the Jump Start and Summer School Enrichment program.
The program, which runs Monday through Thursday until July 23, helps teachers give a peek into the needs for the upcoming school year in regard to COVID-19.
Principal Toya McMillan said each student eats breakfast every morning, and brings home a lunch. The classes last from 7:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. each day.
McMillan said four classes are being held at the same time each day. For the students’ lab time, each student goes to their same computer each day.
All students wear masks during the program.
