COVID-19: ECHA releases Aug. 7 update

The Escambia County Healthcare Authority announced today, Aug. 7, there have been 660 confirmed COVID-19 cases reported out of its two hospitals.
The latest update is an increase of 17 cases since Aug. 4.
According to ECHA’s biweekly update, there have been 462 confirmed cases reported at Atmore Community Hospital, and 198 cases at D.W. McMillan Memorial Hospital.
At ACH, 2,043 specimens have been collected with 1,535 negative results, 20 pending and 26 inconclusive.
At DWM, 968 specimens have been collected with 717 negative results, 31 pending and 22 inconclusive.
The ECHA updates these numbers twice a week to reflect current case numbers. Due to the timing of the information, the numbers may differ from the numbers on the Alabama Department of Public Health’s website.
According to the ADPH, there have been 1,044 confirmed cases of COVID-19 reported with 5,708 specimens collected and 16 confirmed deaths in Escambia County, Ala.
