An Atmore main died in a motorcycle crash on Nov. 8 on Escambia County 1, approximately 8 miles north of the city, according to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency.

Senior Trooper Gary Cole said in a release that the crash occurred at approximately 6:30 p.m.

William Van Cooey, 71, was killed when the 2018 Harley Davidson motorcyle he was operating left the roadway and overturned, Cole said.

Cooey was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Nothing further is available as ALEA troopers continue to investigate.
