To get an appreciation of James Roberson’s art, visit 2 Natives Antiques & Art on Pensacola Avenue.

Roberson, along with Owner Drummon Sadler, opened the new antique and art business some three months ago. Both are Tribal Members.

Roberson has been painting his whole life. He’s been collecting, building and selling antiques for about 20 years.

“I think the drive behind opening a place in my home is to have an outlet to sell my art,” Roberson said. “We want to bring a good selection of antiques from high end to not so high end.”

Roberson said his aim is to bring good antiques and art here, and may expand down the road.

When asked where his love of art came from, Roberson said he’s always had a drive to create.

“I’ve done baskets. I’ve done pottery. I’ve done sculpture,” he said. “Whatever I wake up and feel like doing.

“I’ve ben here 13 years,” he said. “I live here, too. I live in the back side of the house. It’s like a working gallery.”

2 Natives Antiques and Art is located at 312 S. Pensacola Ave. in Atmore. Roberson and Sadler live in the back side of the house. Antiques and art is incorporated throughout the from half of the residence.

Roberson said the residence proved to be the perfect space.

“We thought, ‘Why not?’” he said. “I had my studio up front among the living room and dining room. I didn’t use it much.”

2 Natives Antiques and Art is open Tuesday through Friday from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m., and on Saturdays from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.

Roberson said art is a good outlet to express himself.

“All of my art is an extension of myself in one form of the other,” he said.
