Hurricane Ida is continuing its track northwest and will continue to intensify as it moves into the Gulf of Mexico, National Weather Service of Mobile officials said.

According to the NWS, the track brings the core of the hurricane near the north central Gulf Coast on Sunday.

Impacts will extend well east of the center, and are expect in the area.
