ECHCA: 158 new cases of COVID reported out of hospitals

The Escambia County Healthcare Authority announced Aug. 31 that 2,491 cases of COVID-19 have been reported out of its two hospitals.
The latest number is an increase of 158 cases since the Aug. 24 report. The ECHA releases its COVID-19 report every Tuesday.
According to a release, 1,153 cases (plus 16) have been reported out of Atmore Community Hospital, and 1,338 cases (plus 142) from D.W. McMillan Memorial in Brewton since the last update. At ACH, 5,566 have been tested for the virus as of Aug. 31, and 6,896 have been tested at DWM.
According to the Alabama Department of Public Health, 5,719 confirmed cases have been reported out of Escambia County.
Ninety-one (plus six) people have died in the county.
Due to the timing of the informatin, the numbers may differ from the numbers on the ADPH’s website.
Confirmed cases are recorded by public health officials in the patient’s county of residence.
