They continued to pull away from Daphne in the second quarter scoring six points to Daphne’s two and taking an 18-8 lead into the locker room at halftime.

Following halftime, the Trojans would try and sneak back into the game, but the Eagles proved to be too much for them to handle.

Daphne opened up on offense and tightened down on defense in the third period as they held the Eagles to two points and scored 10 of their own to crawl back into the game.

With a 20-18 lead heading into the fourth quarter, the Eagles overcame their third quarter slump and pulled away from the Trojans outscoring them 14-9 to pull off the 34-27 win.

Eagles head coach Robert Smith said big performances by his players proved to be the difference.

“The return of Melik McMillian was huge for us,” Smith said. “He had a great game on the board and blocking shots. We also had an outstanding performance from Jerome Webster and TyAnthony McNeal controlled the game.”

Webster led all scorers with eight points and also had 12 rebounds, six assists and three steals.

McMillian was a monster on the boards pulling down 14 rebounds, while scoring six points with five blocks and one steal.

David Johnson added six points and recorded 10 rebounds, five steals, one block and three assists.

Other Eagles recording stats were Gordon Brooks with eight points, four steals and two assists; Josh Hill with three points, two rebounds, two assists and one steal and McNeal with three assists, two steals and one point.

The Eagles next game is on Nov. 29 at home against Spanish Fort. Games begin at 4:30 p.m.
