I woke up Sunday morning, and it took me a while to get going.
You know that kind of tired?
The first thing I did when I got out of bed was head to the coffee station in my apartment and got my pot going.
As it perked, I tried to begin thinking about what I’m going to do for the rest of the day.
The usual schedule peaked in, including a little work, a trip to the grocery store and some chores around the apartment.
But, then I got really excited because the weekend capper was the day of the Daytona 500, or the start to NASCAR season.
Honestly, it had been a while since I listened or watched a TV broadcast all the way through, but I was quite excited about the race.
Being that I didn’t have a good enough broadcast TV antenna to catch the race on FOX, I instead streamed the race on the NASCAR app via the Motor Racing Network, or MRN.
From the waving of the green flag to the exciting end, I listened as I did a few things.
The MRN broadcast team did an excellent job of painting a picture for this listener, and I even learned a few new things about the sport I didn’t know.
As the sunset, the race began to wind down and rookie Austin Cindric crossed the start-finish line in overtime. Overtime in racing is when a race distance is extended when the caution flag is flying.
The Daytona 500 was a good race to start the new season, I’ll be looking forward to this Sunday’s race – the Wise Power 400 at Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, Calif.
