PENSACOLA, FLA. – Northview High School celebrated the Class of 2022 during commencement exercises at the Bay Center May 25 in Pensacola, Fla.
Approximately 88 seniors received diplomas, the next chapter in their lives moving forward.
Principal Mike Sherrill praised the seniors’ accomplishments, and even though the challenges were pleasant, they persevered because of the tools they instilled.
“I’m most grateful to have had the opportunity to be your principal,” Sherrill said.
Salutatorian John Bashore said the past, itself, is an important part of our lives because it helped shape each one of his classmates.
“The past got me thinking about all of the great times in my life,” Bashore said. “They say time flies when you’re having fun.”
Bashore said everyone sewed things in their lives every single day.
“From a little baby until I turned 18 years old, I’ve been planting seeds,” he said. “I thought school would develop me as more than as an academic person, but as a young man that values relationships.”
Valedictorian Hunter Borelli said he was honored to be the class’s top classroom performer.
“I’ll be talking to you today about the future,” Borelli said. “It’s important as we set out, and not simply to follow the road set out for us, but to simply explore other roads.”
Borelli encouraged his classmates to not hesitate in seizing opportunities.
“Trust in God,” he said. “If we believe in ourselves and trust in God, I know great things will come to us.”
Borelli then thanked school administrators and staff for their leadership over the last two years. Additionally, he thanked the school support staff, family, friends and guests present.
