More than 4 inches of rain fell Aug. 20-28

More than 4 inches of rain fell in the Atmore area from Aug. 20-28, according to the National Weather Service.
Meteorologist Joe Maniscalco said in an email on Monday that the total rainfall that fell since Aug. 20 was 4.46 inches. For the month of August, 8.36 inches of rain fell.
Maniscalco said the monthly average is 7.25 inches, and from Aug. 20-25, 3.35 inches fell.
Maniscalo said of note, the most excessive and widespread rains were to the south of Atmore and focused over the coast from southern Mississippi eastward to Mobile and Baldwin Counties into portions of southern Escambia County, Fla., where 11-16 inches of rain has been reported since Aug. 1.
