Mrs. Nell J. Pruitt Dees, 71, died Thursday, December 27, 2001.
She was a native of West Point, Miss., and resident of Atmore.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James Belvin and Ila Mae Frost Edgeworth.
Mrs. Dees is survived by a son, James Pruitt and his wife, Charlene, of Atmore; three daughters, Nelma Hammonds and her husband, John, of Jacksonville, Diana Chong and her husband, Lee and Gail Brown and her husband, Stephen, all of Atmore; four brothers, Billy Edgeworth, Jerry Edgeworth, Robert Edgeworth and Lonnie Edgeworth, all of Rome, Ga.; a sister, Martha Jo Matthews of Rome; 11 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Saturday, December 29 at 2 p.m. at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. John Hammonds and Dr. Dewitt Allen officiating.
Burial followed at Oak Hill Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Kevin Thomas, Gary Chong, Dewayne Pruitt, Curtis Blocker, Jonathan Chong and Almie Smith. Honorary pallbearers were Lee Chong, Stephen Brown, James Hammonds and Brandon Bell.
