City approves 2022-23 operating budget

The Atmore City Council approved a $13.6 million 2022-23 operating budget during its regular meeting on Sept. 26.
The new budget details revenues and expenses for city departments, and includes a raise for all city employees.
The total projected revenues are $13,640,800.
Expenses include for general government (19 percent); municipal court (2 percent); building and inspection (3 percent); cemetery (2 percent); police department (26 percent); fire department (14 percent); street and sanitation (15 percent); park and recreation (2 percent); library (2 percent); subsidies and appraisals (11 percent); airport (1 percent); beautification (2 percent); and landfill (2 percent).
In other business, the city:
- adopted resolution 2022-19 for grass and weed nuisance; and,
- approved the demolitions of 75 Jones St. and 53 Harris St. as they fall under a nuisance structure and is unsafe for the general public.
