The United Bank Invitational Tournament ended last Saturday night, but it did not end the way tournament organizer's envisioned it.
The tournament championship game was abruptly terminated when the torrential rainfall outside finally made it's presence felt inside, by leaking in from the roof and causing the court to be to slippery and wet to play on.
Due to the terminated Championship game, dual champions were selected. T.R. Miller and Pace High School were the dual tournament champs.
They both get a first place trophy and get to hold the distinction of being tournament champs.
The Northview Chiefs came in second place, while Crestview came in third. Escambia County, W.S. Neal, and Robertsdale came in tied for third, while J.U. Blacksher came in last.
Three other games were played Saturday before the championship game was rained out.
Crestview defeated W.S. Neal 77-40, Robertsdale defeated J.U. Blacksher 81-38, and Northview defeated Escambia County 44-34.
Each team had two players selected to the All-Tournament team.
J.U. Blacksher had Micheal Packer and Brandon Peavy, Robertsdale had Wayne Davis and Teaco Mickles, Crestview had Andre Herbert and Montelos Burden, W.S. Neal had Keith Woods and Nick Benjamin, Northview had Mendell Smith and Daryl Cohen, Pace had Brett Swanson and Jamie Duncan, Escambia County had Damien Robinson and Barrett Finney, and T.R. Miller had Dominic Johnson and DaWaun Johnson.
Two MVP's were selected for the tournament and they are: Scott Ross of Pace, and Neal Cheatham of T.R. Miller.
The three leading scorers for the Blue Devils in the tournament were; Barrett Finney with 9.3 points a game, Jeremy McCants with nine point and Damien Robinson also with nine points a game.
The three leading scorers for the Chiefs in the tournament were: Daryl Cohen with 13 points a game, Shane Johnson with 10.3 points a game, and Jason Gillis with 8.3 points a game.
