Deacon Eugene McNeil Sr, 76, died Tuesday, January 1, 2002, at Baptist Hospital in Pensacola.
He was a native of Atmore, graduate of Escambia Training School and had served in the U. S. Marine Corp. He owned and managed a store and several rental houses in the Atmore area and was retired from Monsanto Corporation.
He was preceded in death by a son, Saul McNeil and a step-daughter, Joyce Coleman.
Deacon McNeil is survived by his wife, Helen Kate McNeil of Atmore; his mother, Edna (McNeil) McCorvey of Atmore; stepmother, Laura McNeil of Atmore; children, Minnie Bailem and her husband, John, of Ft. Meyers, Fla., Edna Mae Robinson and her husband, Thomas, Eugene McNeil Jr., James McNeil and his wife, Joangelyn and Eunice Johnson and her husband, Charles, all of Atmore and Beverly Rose and her husband, Hillary, of Boston, Mass.; step-children, Rose Jones and her husband, Frank of Atmore, Barbara Bryant and her husband, Mury, of Jacksonville, Fla., George Marvin Orange of N. N., Jesse Orange and his wife, Cheryl, of Naperville, Ill., Clarence Marvin and his wife, Delores and Earnest Marvin and his wife, Fannie, all of Pensacola; a sister, Minnie Lee Parker of Atmore; a brother, Robert Crenshaw and his wife, Margaret, of Birmingham and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
Funeral services were held Mon., Jan 7 at 1 p.m. at Liberty Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. E. Sanders officiating.
Burial was at Stallworth Cemetery.
Pallbearers were his grandsons.
Robinson Funeral Home was in charge of Arrangements.
