Northview scored 11 runs in the first inning and beat Central, Fla. 14-4 on senior night Thursday in Bratt.
Kaden Odom, Luke Bridges, Josh Landis, Jamarkus Jefferson and Rustin Pope had one hit each to lead the Chiefs. Ethan Collier added two RBIs in the win.
Odom struck out five and allowed two earned runs on one hits in 3.0 innings to earn the win on the mound.
With the win, the Chiefs improve to 15-6 overall, and earned the No. 1 seed going into the FHSAA 1A, District 1 tournament May 1 in Jay. NHS earned a bye in the first round, and starts tournament play May 2.
NHS head baseball coach Jeremy Greenwell said the team is playing better baseball this side of spring break.
“Ever since, we’ve been hitting on another level,” Greenwell said. “I’ve been real pleased with our bats.”
Greenwell added that errors have been down as well.
“Over the last seven to eight games, we’ve committed less than one error per game,” he said.
When asked what the team is doing well, Greenwell said pitching and hitting are coming together at the right time.
In other action, NHS fell to Flomaton 2-1 on April 18.
In girls action, the Lady Chiefs beat W.S. Neal 9-5 on the road on Thursday.
Mary Clayton Dawson went 2-for-4 with two RBIs and two runs to lead NHS.
The Lady Chiefs scored three runs in the fourth inning and six runs in the fifth inning.
Emma Gilmore had nine strikeouts and allowed four hits in a complete game to earn the win.
