Atmore man indicted on sex abuse of a child charge by grand jury

An Atmore man was indicted by an Escambia County (Ala.) grand jury on sexual abuse of a child less than 12 years old, according to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency.
According to ALEA officials, Thomas Banda, 46, turned himself into the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office and was booked into the Escambia County Detention Center without incident.
ALEA officials said in a release that on March 24, at the request of the ECSO, special agents with ALEA’s State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) launched an investigation into the sexual abuse of a minor that occurred in Escambia County.
Special agents identified Banda as the suspect, and an extension investigation was conducted. The findings were sent to the grand jury.
Bothing further is available as the investigation remains ongoing. Once complete, the case will be turned over to the Escambia County District Attorney’s Office.
