A man died from injuries he sustained after a shooting earlier this evening, according to the Atmore Police Department.

Public Information Officer Sgt. Darrell McMann said in a release that Atmore police officers responded to Brooks Lane in reference to a traffic crash at approximately 5 tonight.

“When the officers arrived, they discovered the driver had been shot,” McMann said. “The victim was transported to the hospital, where he died from his injuries.”

McMann said investigators are working to identify the victim’s family and to identify a suspect.
