A multi-vehicle crash July 25 claimed the life of an Auburn man on Interstate 65 at the 101-mile marker, according to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency.

Senior Trooper Anna Peoples said in a release that Donald E. Stowe, 72, was fatally injured when the 2021 Toyota Camry he was driving struck a 2017 Dodge Grand Caravan, driven by Pedro S. Tomas, 23, of Loxley.

Peoples said after the initial collision, the Toyota Camry was then struck by a 2022 Hyundai Sonata driven by Min Gu Cho, 33 ,of Duluth, Ga.

“After being struck by the Hyundai Sonata, the Toyota Camry left the roadway and struck a cable barrier,” Peoples said. “The Hyundai Sonata was then struck by an unknown tractor trailer that left the scene of the accident. Stowe was pronounced deceased at the scene.”
The crash occurred on Interstate 65 at the 101-mile marker, approximately 4 miles north of Evergreen, in Conecuh County.

Nothing further is available as Troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate.
