Mobile man arrested on multiple drug charges

A Mobile man was arrested July 23 on multiple drug charges, according to the Atmore Police Department.

Public Information Officer Sgt. Darrell McMann said in a release that at approximately 8:50 p.m. on the day of the arrest, an APD officer performed a traffic stop on a vehicle being operated without rear tail lights, and the license plate was obstructed and expired.

“Upon stopping the vehicle, the officer contacted the driver, William Giddins, age, 24 of Mobile,” McMann said.

McMann said while speaking with Giddins and the two passengers, the officer observed suspicious behavior and was given consent to search the vehicle.

“During the search of the vehicle the officer discovered over 2 grams of synthetic marijuana (spice), approximately 1 gram of marijuana, a prescription pill bottle containing marijuana residue and a grinder,” he said. “Giddins was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of marijuana II.

Giddins was then transported to the Escambia County Detention Center in Brewton.
