Excessive heat warning issued for Escambia County, Ala.

An excessive heat warning has been issued today for Escambia County, Ala., according to the National Weather Service.

The alert is in effect today until 7 p.m.

Additionally, a heat advisory will be in effect tomorrow, Mon., Aug. 7, from 10 a.m. until 7 p.m.

According to the NWS, heat index values up to 113 degrees are expected. The advisory will hold index values up to 111 degrees.

Extreme heat and humidity increases the chance of heat-related illnesses, particularly those who are working or participating in outdoor activities.
