Escambia County ran out to a 21-0 lead in the first half, and went on to beat Satsuma 46-6 tonight in region action on the road.
Marrion Hooks, Tai Henderson and James Whatley scored one touchdown each in the first half.
ECHS head football coach Vincent Harris said the team was pretty dominant up front.
“The defense did a good job, and held them until the fourth quarter,” Harris said. “It was a good defensive effort. Our offensive coordinator Maurice Bradley and defensive coordinator Raymond Robinson did a good job. The kids played well.”
With the victory, the Blue Devils improve to 3-0 overall, and 1-0 in Class 4A, Region 1. ECHS will host St. Michael, who lost 27-21 to Bayside Academy in overtime on Thursday.
“We’re in a tough region, and we’ve got to win,” Harris said. “(Tonight’s game) was one of those games we had to have. We’re going to try and keep getting better each week.”
Harris said the community showed out tonight at SHS.
“The community did a great job,” he said. “That was a great job by everybody tonight. The fan support was really good. We’re so appreciative of that.”
