FHS head football coach Doug Vickery said the team had a slow first half, but bounced back in the final 24 minutes. The Hurricanes outscored Cottage Hill 22-0 in the second half.

“We kind of seemed a little lethargic; given it was our first road game we didn’t know what to expect,” Vickery said. “It was kind of like we were playing in slow motion in the first half. We pretty much wore them down in the second half, and had some big plays.”

Vickery said defensive coordinator Scott Robinson put together a good game plan in the second half, and some good adjustments were made at halftime.

With the victory, FHS improves to 3-1 overall, and 2-0 in Class 3A, Region 1. The Hurricanes visit Excel next Fri., Sept. 22 in region play.
