An Atmore man was arrested Sept. 27 on a warrant for robbery and on multiple drug charges, according to the Atmore Police Department.
Public Information Officer Sgt. Darrell McMann said in a release that Johnny Patterson, 49, was arrested after attempting to run from the scene from the back door of his apartment.
McMann said at approximately 1:40 p.m. on the day of the arrest, APD officers were attempting to locate Patterson to serve an arrest warrant for robbery I.
“The officers contacted Patterson at his residence in the 200 block of Patterson Street,” McMann said. “Patterson attempted to run from the scene from the back door of his apartment, but was apprehended after a brief struggle. While handcuffing Patterson, they detected a strong odor of marijuana coming from inside his apartment. Patterson gave consent to the officers to enter his apartment.”
McMann said while in Patterson’s apartment, the officers discovered approximately 14 grams of crack cocaine, a dozen ecstasy pills and a digital scale.
Patterson was charged with possession of a controlled substance, unlawful possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and attempting to elude a police officer.
The robbery I warrant was in reference to an incident on September 14, 2023 that occurred in the 200 block of Patterson Street.
Patterson was then transported to the Escambia County Detention Center in Brewton.
